LRD carries out equality audit for the TUC

The Labour Research Department earlier this year carried out the prestigious and comprehensive TUC Equality Audit 2009, which was launched at Congress in September 2009. It provides a hugely detailed picture of the state of play of union negotiating on equality over the last four years, and reveals that unions have issued guidance to negotiators in hundreds of detailed areas across 12 broad equalities topics. And in the majority of areas there is evidence that this work has borne fruit in terms of real results in the workplace.

The biennial TUC Equality Audits emerged from an important TUC rule change in 2001 which committed the TUC and its affiliates to promoting equality in all aspects of their work. The 2009 one is the fourth, and all have been carried out by LRD.
