Tackling attacks on fire crews - report for the Fire Brigades Union
This follow up report for the FBU supports the union's campaign to address the issue of deliberate attacks on its members.

The report revealed that over 40 attacks on firefighters take place every week across the UK. It exposed government claims that attacks on firefighters are falling and criticised the lack of strategy for dealing with the problem.

The report found some positive examples of policies and prevention strategies in local fore and rescue services. For example many fire authorities run schemes to engage with young people. It found little support for CCTV, which many firefighters believed damaged their relationships with local youths and did not deter attacks. It also contains a number of recommendations for government action.

The report can be downloaded from the FBU website - http://www.fbu.org.uk/campaigns/attacks/pdf/feb_08_fbu_attacks_low_res.pdf
